The real threat to the American way of life is not some foreign extremist organization or philosophy, but rather a number of internal issues, including, but not limited to, the division of the American people through xenophobic fear-mongering, gentrification of working class communities, and the spiteful destruction of family farming through legislation.

A house divided cannot stand and our so-called leadership at the top has done a terrific job of pitting us all against each other due to their faith in the fact that our population as a whole is not smart enough, organized enough, or just too damn big and lazy to do anything about it. If you wonder why this is so, you need not look any further than your own family values and those that are instilled by our school systems.

This blog is dedicated to the rebirth of America through local community action and the exposure of the truths and myths about our beloved country. I am proud to be an American but I am not happy with the direction that our elected officials are taking us. It is not change we need - it is a reawakening of the American ideal and the spirit that once drove our communities that will save us.

Dear Red States...

Originally posted on Craig's List on July 24th, 2005, this letter briefly sums up some truths about our divided nation.

Dear Red States...

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and

we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon,Washington,

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We
believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially
to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get Elliot
Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You
get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states
pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the

Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a
bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and

anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at
once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have
kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no
purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their
children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and
hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our
resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent

of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple
and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of
America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners)
90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most
of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and
condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale,
Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88

percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care
costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the
tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern
Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh,
Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was

actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred
unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say
that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved
in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy b*****ds believe you are people
with higher morals then we lefties.

By the way, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt

weed they grow in Mexico.

Peace out,

Blue States

America the Wasteful

Here are some random points on world health that some of you might be interested in reading, even though I know most of you don't really care. I cannot say if these numbers are actual fact but I am at least one person of the belief that there is more truth than fiction represented here:

1. Americans constitute 5% of the world's population but consume 24% of the world's energy. On average, one American consumes as much energy as two Japanese, six Mexicans, 13 Chinese, 31 Indians, 128 Bangladeshis, 307 Tanzanians, and 370 Ethiopians.

2. The population is projected to increase by nearly 130 million people - the equivalent of adding another four states the size of California - by the year 2050.

3. 40% of births in America are unintended and nearly 10% of children born in America are raised by a man who believes he is the child's biological father but is actually not.

4. Americans eat 815 billion calories of food each day - that's roughly 200 billion more than needed - enough to feed 80 million people.

5. Americans throw out 200,000 tons of edible food daily.

6. The average American generates 52 tons of garbage by age 75.

7. The average individual daily consumption of water in America is 159 gallons, while more than half the world's population lives on 25 gallons.

8. 50% of the wetlands, 90% of the northwestern old-growth forests, and 99% of the tall-grass prairie have been destroyed in the last 200 years.

9. 80% of the corn grown and 95% of the oats are fed to livestock.

10. 56% percent of available farmland is used for beef production.

11. Every day an estimated nine square miles of rural land are lost to development.

12. There are more shopping malls than high schools in America.

Is This What it Means to Be Conservative?

Somebody please help me. I would really like to know just how the Republicans got everybody fooled into believing they are "conservative". All arrows point to the fact that they are anything but that, especially when it comes to spending tax payer's money.

It has only been two years since the Bush Administration left office, leaving the country with a huge budget deficit while the economy was eroding. A large portion of the population, however, is showing signs that they indeed are suffering from a severe case of Attention Deficit Disorder as all the blame has been shifted to our current President, Barack Obama, and the rest of the Democrats that have occupied the House and the Senate.

I have continuously heard the "conservative" elite talk about cutting spending and reversing the downward spiral that they claim the Democrats initiated. So far there is no real word on how they will do that and the truth is that they have been more guilty than anybody when it comes to racking up the bills. When Clinton was in office we actually had a balanced budget and national debt less than $5.7 trillion. Then between the years 2000 and 2008, while Bush and Cheney were in office, our debt increased to $9.2 trillion.

Of course, in an attempt to stave off a complete economic collapse that could leave millions of people without work, Obama has pushed for various "stimulus packages" that have continued this downward trend, but that does not mean we cannot fight our way through it and get our economy back on track. In fact, I believe it will be easier than most people think. It will take some time and a lot of hard work, which is what this country was built upon. It's just too bad we are in an "Age of Entitlement" where everybody, including both "liberals" and "conservatives", believes they should not have to work for anything.

When I started this blog I was not exactly sure where I was going with it. I simply started sifting through statistics and uncovering the truth behind the facade of mainstream politics. As I've stated before, I actually intended to be unbiased towards either of the two main political parties. Obvious differences between the predominantly Deomocratic (D) states and Republican (R) states have become more visible now and as I continue on it is hard to sympathize or support any candidate that would call themselves a "conservative".

For example, below are three lists that come straight from the U.S. Census Bureau that help expose the stories, tales, lies, and exaggerations of those on the right side of America's political scheme. They, being supposed "conservatives", claim to spend less tax dollars and fight for the right of working class families. As you may see, whatever they may call themselves, they are nothing more than hypocrites that want to continue separating themselves from the lower class.

Top States Ranked by Federal Aid to State and Local Governments according to the U.S. Census Bureau

1. Wyoming (R)
2. Alaska (R)
3. Louisiana (R)
4. Mississippi (R)
5. Vermont (D)
6. New York (D)
7. New Mexico (R)
8. North Dakota (R)
9. Rhode Island (D)
10. West Virginia (R)

States Ranked by Energy Consumption Per Capita (2007) according to the U.S. Census Bureau

1. Alaska (R)
2. Wyoming (R)
3. Louisiana (R)
4. North Dakota (R)
5. Texas (R)
6. Montana (R)
7. Kentucky (R)
8. West Virginia (R)
10. Indiana (S)

Top States Ranked by Persons Below Poverty Level according to the U.S. Census Bureau

1. Mississippi (R)
2. Kentucky (R) tied
2. Louisiana (R) tied
2. Arkansas (R) tied
7. New Mexico (R)
6. West Virginia (R)
8. Oklahoma (R)
9. South Carolina (R) tied
9. Alabama (R) tied

After reading these lists and checking the facts, I cannot imagine how anybody would want to call themselves a conservative. Moreover, I cannot imagine any Democratic state thinking that it needed to be more "conservative".

These statistics are just the tip of the iceberg though, as there is a lot more below the surface. To learn more scroll down to my earlier blog entries, check back here for updates, and, most importantly, go out and search for the truth yourself.

Seperating the Dross from the Economic Meltdown

As the U.S. wades through the muck of "the biggest economic recession since the great depression" most Americans are concerned about where the country is headed. The majority of the nation is obviously divided between two sides and the rest of the country is stuck somewhere in the middle. This "gray area" has become political purgatory for those who do not want to take the side of "a lesser of two evils". However, it seems that the only way to be taken seriously by at least a small portion of the population is to take a side.

So as we, being those in the middle, wonder what side to choose and attempt to take steps towards securing our new economy as a country we should look at the trends among individual states, their communities, and the leadership they have followed over the years to understand just what actually is working. To keep from making mistakes in the future we must learn from our past and be willing to make changes in ourselves, no matter how difficult that may be.

Earlier (Nov 1st) I had posted a compilation of lists from various sources that ranked the top states in some very critical areas, including health, crime, and education. I believe these reports are very revealing and need to be considered heavily as we choose the people to lead us out of this recession. To read those lists just scroll down to the blog entry titled "The Nation's Leaders".

To keep up with that idea I have posted a list of the top ten states for upstart businesses and entrepreneurial endeavors. It has been researched and organized by the Kauffman Foundation and the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF). Although I have tried to be at least somewhat unbiased and in the middle, I have to admit that I am leaning more to the left. These studies depict a definitive pattern based on respective policies of each of the states and it is something that us as voters really need to consider when choosing our leadership.

(Again, predominantly democratic states are labeled with a "D", predominantly Republican states are labeled with an "R", and supposed swing states are labeled with an "S".)

Top Ten States that Encourage Entrepreneurship:

1. Massachusetts (D)
2. New Jersey (D)
3. Maryland (D)
4. Washington (D)
5. California (D)
6. Connecticut (D)
7. Delaware (D)
8. Virginia (R)
9. Colorado (D)
10. New York (D)

States at the bottom (in no particular order):

West Virginia (R)
Mississippi (R)
South Dakota (R)
Arkansas (R)
Alabama (R)
Kentucky (R)
Louisiana (R)
Wyoming (R)
Montana (R)
Hawaii (D)

The Nation's Leaders

Today's political realm is overloaded with negativity and subversive brainwashing. It is truly a shame that we as Americans have to continually be subjected to this political slight of hand, directing our attention one way with the left hand while the right hand is sneakily putting a knife in our backs, regardless of our respective political affiliations.

The fact is that everyone is guilty, nobody seems to care, and there is no end in sight. Republicrats and Democans all have an agenda in place and it is questionable whether or not either party really has our best interests in mind. In fact, I dare say they are all feeding on the demise of the middle class working families that are slowly becoming slaves to the elite corporate puppet regimes that run this country. It is a simple case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and it is idiotic to think that voting for one of two parties over the other will make any changes.

Nevertheless, the election season is upon us, giving us all that false sense of hope that politicians prey on as they bombard us all with propaganda that amounts to nothing more than stories, tales, lies, and exaggerations.

In the spirit of this fall's political harvest I have compiled a variety of lists from various sources ranking the top states in what I believe to be some very critical issues, including health, crime, and education.

Take a close look and keep it all in mind when you go to the polls this Tuesday.
